Post du jour

No food this entry, instead quotidian odds and ends on rye – some chicken soup for the wandering eye.
(Be warned, it got stuck to the bottom of the deadpan so it’s kind of dry with not much to chew on. If you take it with a grain of salt it might be more palatable, but chances are that by the end your eyes will be glazed and your mind tenderised.)

Touchy felty

Toys! Getting back into the whole sewing thing. The second one's pretty old school as far as my creatures go - he's a gift for someone who would appreciate that style more, I hope.

Also out of some late-night procrastination came my first ever bento box with a tomato/cucumber/yoghurt/cumin salad, chilli con carne, carrot sticks, rice and polenta. I have to thank this beautiful blog for the inspiration. Maybe when I have more patience and more time I'll be able to create boxes as amazingly complex.

More food after the break, as all the recent edibles have been getting quite onerous...

I hate myself.

Dear Diary,

Apparently I was laughing hysterically in my sleep last night, over some dream.

I remember that dream.

It was my housemates on the set of a porno.

They were shitting chocolate and ejaculating sour cream.

Holy crap I hope my significant other has forgotten my delirious early morning account of this.

Sincerely,

Meg

Please sir...

... can I have some more?

The last week and a bit's cooking, in photos.

Choc-Mint Biscuits

Let's-Throw-Lots-Of-Things-Together-Before-Work Salad

Sausage Rolls

Same Shit Different Day Curry Puffs

Breakfast Ochazuke

Disaster Surprise (the surprise being, of course, that the title is very, very accurate)

Polenta-Crusted Stuffed Mushrooms and Jacket Potatoes

Potato Tarte Tatin (the second picture is to show the layers of balsamic syrup, potato, caramelised onion and pastry, and to make me wish there was still some left.)

And again, this time with a roast corn salad that tasted a lot better than it looked.

A collaborative breakfast with stuffed mushrooms, grilled tomato and baby spinach, made by my favourite fuckwit and I.

Also pictures of just my fuckwit's handywork. Because I like them.

There's a lot of food here. And not a lot of art.

Oh well.

Mostly edible

Food, I like making it.

Here is some, not all, for in many cases things were eated before they could be photographed. I will try to be more diligent in the future, however.

Gyoza and Moneybags

Jam Doughnuts
(Recipe from Time Life's Cooking of Vienna's Empire, 1968. I'm working my way up to the sauerkraut-stuffed cucumbers a few pages over.)

Rice Shape... things...

Vanilla Cupcake with Cream Cheese Caramel Icing

Shepherd's Pie

Huevo Rancheros, a la Margaret Fulton

Lemon and Poppyseed Biscuits

Breakfast Pho

Feta and Pumpkin Pastries

Breakfast Tarts

Pork Buns

I also need to work on my food photography. I anticipate a delicious learning experience.

Back from the brink

Well here are some things. The first things in a very long time if you consider this blog an accurate measure my ontological temporality. Which it is not, thankyouverymuch.

Anyway, yes, here are some things.

The first one is a medium sized painting on some scrap wood that sat unfinished in the back of my aforementioned mate's car for quite some time. I kind of wish he was still unfinished because the milk turned out a bit frogspawny. Or even fried eggy.

Either way, I'd like to turn this fellow into some stickers.

And here is a teeny tiny one. Done quickly for funzies. And procrastinationiez.

Oh uni, I'd forgotten all about you.

Help.
